Even though it is a little older tricks, still it is useful. Before doing this hack Windows XP SP2 users should install Windows media player 10. Otherwise it will not work. And a restarting is also required after the hack - JK

i think theyve updated some shit since this post was released.

you can install it the way this post describes but when you start media player. it asks you then aswell.

I tried the whole procedure but it still prompts to validate when you launch WMP 11. help !!!

I cant extract the file.i have Win Ace Archiever v2.2 and it doesn't works.I don't see the 'extract to..' icon . I have Windows XP whit Vista Transformation Pack 7.PLS HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

to make clear i've done it on a windows xp professinal sp3, custom made version, i changed somethings around. Anyways i downloaded the windows media 11 and saved it to the desktop then i downloaded and installed the winrar and i then extracted the windows media 11 to a folder on the desktop. I then opened the folder and deleated the LegitLibM.dll file and then double clicked and extracted the wmfdist11.exe file. IT most likly will restart the computer after it gets done so add this page to favorites. After the computer came back on I the opened the windows media 11 folder on the desktop and i doubled clicked on the wmp11.exe file and followed the instructions, pretty much just hit the next button and then after that gets done. YOUR ALL SET, IT IS INSTALLED from Ryan

If WMP11 already failed to install earlier then delete the file from "Program Files" folder. Run insatllation once more, click on validate if asked once again and use WMP as normal.

NOT ONLY DELETE THE VALIDATION ICON FROM THE MEDIA FILE BUT ALSO GO TO SYSTEM 32 ANDA DELETE IT THERE ANDA IT WORKED FOR ME

it may already have the LegitLibM.dll, just delete it from C:\program files\windows media player, when it asks to validate, just click through and it will work.

If you have follow all the step, just click Validate when run for first time. It will say it can't validate, and you start enjoy your MP11.

after installing you also have to delete the other .dll files in program files where you have installed windows media player...........IT WORKED FOR ME

i accidently clicked the setup & then canceled it when it says that you have to validate it. Now after all the steps mentioned above, when i click the wmp icon it says validate the window. i am afraid if i click the tab of validate, it certainly will block the window.
Doesnt work when i am offline.
ANY SOLUTION!!!

ALMOST completes installation, finalizing wmp11.exe -- then I get the dreaded 1" box "Access Denied!" and it tries to revert EVERYTHING...

ALSO: McAfee prompts me during uninstall to allow a change to Win.ini that I did not get prompted to change on Install --

tested on xp sp2 prof...i have instaled wmp but it required validation and that dind't work of course..but with this site i;ve done the easy way..after the instalation of the windows media player i;ve just deleted legitlib then next on the wmp when he said that it needs to validate it and vila it continues to instal and now i'm playing on WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 11 thank u guys
