iPhone Firmware 2.2 To Allow Direct Podcast Downloading

Despite strict Apple iPhone Developer NDA agreements, a reader of TUAW leaked screenshots of iPhone Firmware 2.2 Beta 2, the screenshots indicates that the new firmware will support direct downloading of podcasts onto the device.

As of now, you can only sync podcasts on iPhone via iTunes, the new direct downloading support will definitely help users avoid the hassle of manual syncing.

iPhone firmware 2.2 Beta 1 and Beta 2 introduced the following features:

  • Support for Google's Street View with public transportation and walking routes.
  • Japanese Emoji Icons with Auto-Correction Turn Off option.
  • User-interface tweaks to the iPhone Safari web-bowser now having dedicated search-bar next to address bar for quicker search.
  • Minor tweaks to App Store Application
