Apple OS X Mountain Lion is now available for upgrade, there could be three major possible scenarios for an upgrade and here are they :

  1. Your Mac was bought on or after June 11, 2012 - You will get the "Mountain Lion" upgrade for free, simply claim your free download coupon and download from Mac App Store.
  2. You have OS X Snow Leopard/Lion installed and you bought your computer in late 2009 or after - upgrade for $20 through the Mac App Store.
  3. Older computer - Check system requirements and upgrade to Snow Leopard or Lion and then procces to "Mountain Lion" upgrade.

Apple OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion is out now and with it comes the new "Gatekeeper" security feature, as evident from the name what this new security feature does is to prevent installation of unauthorized applications on user computer safeguarding them against malicious software.

Apple Mac AppStore hacked to enable in-app purchases for free

After hacking his way through free Apple iOS in-app purchases and making things public, the Russian hacker Alexey Borodin has now targeted Apple Mac OS allowing users to get paid in-app purchases for free.

This new hack uses similar DNS man-in-middle technique to act as a fake Mac AppStore server letting users get paid stuff for free. The trick involves users to install two certificates and change DNS records to work with an "Grim Receiper" application, this application makes use of crowd-sourced donated receipts from genuine purchases to authenticate anyone's purchase requests (for free).

Hack to get Apple iOS in-app purchase items for free

A Russian developer has published a hack which enables iOS users to get in-app purchases for free, the trick makes use of a "man-in-the-middle" type of attack making the target app believe it is communicating with the real Apple Appstore server instead of the fake appstore.

The hack is working on all devices running iOS 3.0 to 6.0, to get this working all a user needs to do is to install a root certificate and change DNS servers on their devices. A video demonstration of this working is posted after the jump.
