[Video] Microsoft Motion Sensing Keyboard With Hover Gesture Control Makes Mouse Obsolete

From cellphones to cars, glasses to watches - everything is getting smarter so why not a "Smart-Keyboard"? Well we do have one now - The research division at Microsoft has came up with something innovative which should make those tiring hands travel to grab mouse a thing of past, the motion-sensing keyboard lets users perform gesture based tasks like scrolling, zooming etc. by hovering over the keyboard just like a touchscreen. The Type-Hover-Swipe Keyboard utilizes a grid of hidden infrared motion sensors beneath keyboard keys, letting users perform hand gestures in a more natural position. The technology is fast and precise enough to recognize advanced commands like mimicking a steering wheel with your hands when playing a racing game as also demonstrated in the video shared below.

Intel Introduces RealSense™ Technology At CES 2014

Computer to human interface utilizing motion gestures, touch-screens, voice commands and facial recognition is no novelty these days. Sniffing the demand for these future computer interfacing features, the industry giant Intel has put their weight behind the concept of 'natural' computing interface and has introduced the Intel RealSense platform at CES 2014.

Intel RealSense is a new family of technology featuring complimenting hardware and software products that will make human-machine interfaces "natural". The idea is to utilize touch, motion, voice and facial expressions for interacting with all sorts of devices in the most natural form possible. Intel has also released the The Intel® Perceptual Computing SDK 2013 for developers to jump into and create innovative applications to consume the platform. Do watch the introduction video below.

Gesture controlled user interfaces are without a doubt the next generation of communication channel between humans and machines. Fujitsu Laboratories, have now demonstrated their own next-generation interactive intuitive touch-and-gesture control technology which utilizes real-world objects as touchscreens bridging smart communication between real and virtual worlds.

[Video] Capri - Smaller, enhanced version of Kinect sensor hardware to enable creation of awesome interactive things around us..

Users are utilizing various Microsoft Kinect hacks to create awesome natural body gestures to control things around them, and LEAP has already made it's way into mainstream. To progress things further, PrimeSense - the makers of technology inside Microsoft’s Kinect, have revealed their latest 3-D sensor. Named Capri - the small enough sensor can fit inside tablets and smartphones enabling users to go beyond what's possible now.

LEAP - A Natural User Interface which allows users to control computer in three dimensions with their hand and finger movements

More and more gadgets are now focusing to provide natural movement interfaces, Microsoft Kinect is an brilliant example of this technology.

LEAP is another such device which makes use of some clever technology to offer excellent natural hand and finger based gesture control for computer users, the futuristic and geeky gadget is now available as pre-order for $70 and just require the user to plug it into a USB port, load Leap Motion software and perform a quick calibration to get started.

LEAP is advertised to be "more accurate than a mouse, as reliable as a keyboard and more sensitive than a touchscreen." Sizing equal to a flash drive, the device can distinguish individual fingers and track movements down to a 1/100th of a millimeter for perfect precession. A video with real world demonstration with office, creative and gaming usage is posted after the jump.
