Geohot PWNS Sony PlayStation 3, Posts Root Keys In Public Encouraging Homebrew

As expected GeoHot has finally pwned Sony PS3 posting METLDR root key publicly. The "root-key" or “private key” is used by the console to block unauthorized access to system-critical portions of the internal firmware effectively preventing piracy and hacking.

Playstation 3 Firmware Update 2.40 Announced

Playstation 3 On Monday Sony announced PS3 firmware update to version 2.40, this PS3 update will introduce two new features - a universal system menu during gameplay allowing players to access the PS3 menu at any time while playing the game, and an score leaderboard system which will track, record, and share player accomplishments made in game, according to Sony “With 2.40, you can check if any of your friends are online (thanks to their own user profile), read and send messages, change some settings for games, all without having to quit the game you are playing.”
