iPhone Software Update

Apple iPhone Software Update 2.1 is now available for downloading, the much awaited iPhone update includes many bug fixes and improvements, most notable being fix for in call set-up failures, dropped calls, better battery life, improved accuracy of 3G signal strength display and dramatically reduced backup time.

According to Apple website the 2.1 update includes:

* Decrease in call set-up failures and dropped calls
* Significantly better battery life for most users
* Dramatically reduced time to backup to iTunes
* Improved email reliability, notably fetching email from POP and Exchange accounts
* Faster installation of 3rd party applications
* Fixed bugs causing hangs and crashes for users with lots of third party applications
* Improved performance in text messaging
* Faster loading and searching of contacts
* Improved accuracy of the 3G signal strength display
* Repeat alert up to two additional times for incoming text messages
* Option to wipe data after ten failed passcode attempts
* Genius playlist creation

Apple released beta of its next major iPhone OS upgrade - iPhone OS v 2.1 to developers for testing, this should not be mistaken as iPhone Firmware 2.01 which is also expected to be released soon as an maintenance release fixing bugs appeared with the latestiPhone Software version 2.0 update.

The new beta firmware update supports much demanded Cut, Copy and Paste functionality with notable additions and tweaks to the iPhone GPS system, The new GPS code now allows tracking of direction and speed enabling the device to provide turn-by-turn directions.
