Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread Successfully Ported To Nokia N900

NitdroidWhile native Android OS devices are still waiting for the newest Android 2.3 Gingerbread update port, a developer who goes by handle "drunkdebugger" at NITDROID forums has achieved success in porting Android 2.3 Gingerbread on Nokia N900.

Project NITDROID aims to develop a stable and working port of Android OS for the Nokia Internet Tablets (N8x0 and N900) and an automatic installer for Android 2.2 on Nokia N900 is already under active development and is used by many. Since, Nokia N900 Maemo OS and Google Android share the same Linux love under the hood developers are able to achieve this success this early and easily.

As of now the Gingerbread port for Nokia N900 has following services working - charging, gsm/data, WiFi, rotation policy, mount-service and sound and more will be added to the list as development progresses, you can get the latest updates at developers twitter account "drunkdebugger".
