The beauty of Android is that it allows users the flexibility to tweak things to the extent that their devices can run other operating-systems. Ubuntu Dual Boot Installer takes advantage of this and has now released an app allowing users to run Ubuntu and Android on a single device as a dual-boot system. A user can install and use fully functional Android and Ubuntu images and switch between them easily, on each-side, an app with a simple user interface enables them to boot back and forth at the tap of a button.

Moving ahead with it's goal to converge the desktop and mobile computing environment, Canonical the developers behind the popular open-source, Linux distribution "Ubuntu" have now launched the crowd-funding for the first-phone to feature their Ubuntu Mobile OS announced earlier.

Named "Ubuntu Edge" the gadget is backed by some powerful hardware specifications like fastest available multi-core processor, at least 4GB of RAM, and massive 128GB of storage the phone will also feature elegantly finished textured amorphous metal casing made from a single sheet, a 4.5 inch screen with amazing dynamic range and color accuracy for maximum clarity protected by nothing else but a pure sapphire crystal glass which is so hard that only diamond could scratch it. On the software front the phone will feature dual-boot between Ubuntu Phone OS and Android, and will convert into a fully integrated Ubuntu desktop PC when attached to an external screen. Ubuntu's developer Canonical has announced their entry into the smartphone business with first public glimpses and features of upcoming Ubuntu for Phones. The Linux-based operating system will offer users an seamless experience on Desktop, PC and Mobile with some exciting features and an "android compatible kernel" so existing Google Android users can simply install and use Ubuntu on their phones. While Ubuntu for Phones will be available in 2013 for users to install on existing hardware, handsets powered by the OS will hit shelves in 2014.
