Apple iOS4 is finally out and so does the jailbreaking and unlocking utilities, the iPhone Dev Team has posted updates to their iPhone Jailbreaking utility redsn0w and carrier unlock ultrasn0w to support the newest iOS version with latest baseband (05.13.04) - this means that users can now safely update their iDevices to current iOS version without worrying about loosing there unlock and jailbreak ability.

PwnTunes a new Cydia app from the makers of popular application iRealSMS allows users to use their iPhone and iPod Touch as an removable USB drive with music and image syncing functionality - without requiring any software on connecting computer. There are quite a few free iTunes alternatives but all of them require users to launch the application on connecting computer, PwnTunes on the other hand makes the iDevice detect as an removable USB drive and all you need to do is to drag-n-drop files in respective folders and it will automatically import Music/Images from there without loosing existing library on the device.

Apple restricts use of cheaper compatible composite A/V cables on iPhone and only allows TV-out support via an original Apple cable and that to for only selected applications like iPod and photo slide-shows, if you plugin an non-apple video-out cable in your iPhone you are shown an error "This Accessory Is Not Made To Work With iPhone" and TV-out does not work. After some promising news from MuscleNerd regarding successful porting of Comex userland jailbreak spirit to Apple iPad, things seem to
slowly coming into shape for a proper Apple iPad Jailbreak as iPad hacker 'cdevwill' today posted first-ever pictures of Cydia running successfully on a Apple iPad.

Not much details are available as of now, but 'cdevwill' twitted this first picture of Cydia on iPad thanking saurik (creator of Cydia) and DHowett for this promising clearer pictures and video soon.

As expected and blogged about few days ago userland jailbreak "Spirit" is now successfully ported to Apple iPad courtesy of iPhone Dev Team member MuscleNerd, within a day of sale the iPad OS 3.2 is been exploited allowing jail-breakers to get access to the root of the system, the hack which is a variation of "Spirit jailbreak" recently used to successfully exploit iPhone OS 3.1.3 is expected to use the same browser-based exploit allowing users to jailbreak their iDevices without any complicated process right from their mobile Safari web-browser.

In an video MuscleNerd demonstrated his very early work on porting the "Spirit" jailbreak to Apple iPad which allowed him to login into iPad as root, quite some works is still needed to have an full-functional, consumer-grade jailbreak from this point but it's now only a matter of time and effort as hackers have now access to the inner workings of the OS via this exploit.

In earlier iPhone 1.x days getting your iPhone jail-broken was damn easy and all you need to do was to point your safari web-browser to the jailbreaking page and you could enjoy an instant jailbreak, this type of jailbreak known as a "Userland Jailbreak" seems to be eminent for iPhone OS 3.1.3 as demonstrated by a new video released by user Comex as proof.

The new jailbreak will work on all iPod Touch and iPhone models (iPod Touch 1G, 2G, 3G and iPhone 1G, 2G, 3G, 3GS) untethered on iPhone firmware 3.1.3, since this jailbreak seems to work good on newer bootrom this could be the iPad Jail-breaking utility eager users are waiting for.

Cydia - the iPhone application which allows users to browse and download unofficial/unapproved iPhone applications, themes, ringtones and mods on their jailbroken phones is a must use if you intend to enjoy the full potential of your iDevice in ways Apple does not allows you to do by default.

Hactivating your iPhone does have it's side-effects and one of them is that you are not able to use iPhone Push Notifications, the problem arises because Apple identifies devices via unique certificates and validate them on PUSH servers - However, this problem is now been taken care of by new Cydia application "Push Doctor" made possible by it's creator anethema who has found a way to generate these unique certs en-masse to supply a proper fix for all the hacktivators out there. Installing the app will simply download and inject unique certs into your phone's keychain making them uniquely identifiable by PUSH servers enabling the functionality properly.
