iPhone Dev Team the leaders in iPhone hacking have done it once again, this time they managed to jailbreak the new 3G iPhone with firmware version 2.0, and a iPhone jailbreaking tool “PwnageTool 2.0" has been developed to enable users unlock iPhone running the new firmware software version 2.0.
The Pwnage Tool 2.0 is yet to be released for public downloading, as the software is still under private beta testing and is undergoing further tests to ensure error free performance, the team posted videos demonstrating the jailbreaking process.
Once your iPhone is jail broken and is fully unlocked the iPhone 2.0 will be able to run unofficial third-party applications, themes and games. The all new version of the PwnageTool features support for both 1.1 and 2.0 firmware versions, custom installer configurations, indexing of .ipsws files, canned web-searches, custom root partitions and much more.
To prove that iPhone 3G 2.0 has been jailbroken, iPhone Dev Team released another video unlacing the iBoot BIOS firmware on iPhone, the team quotes in their blog post:
Pwnage breaks the chain of trust from the very earliest boot stage, and as the video shows, this chain has now been broken on the iPhone 3G. Given that the only thing lower than this is ROM, Apple will have to change the hardware to prevent us from getting in, and we don’t expect them to ask for your phone back so they can “fix” it.
Update : The much awaited software is now released for public downloading, You can read more about the release and download Pwnage Tool 2.0 here (direct download link available).
