Today we received an e-mail from Microsoft, requesting the immediate take-down of the download page, which of course means that AutoPatcher is probably history. As much as we disagree, we can do very little, and although the download page is merely a collection of mirrors, we took the download page down.

Server2Go is a free Web server which gets deployed out of the box without any installation, it can run directly from cdrom, usb stick or hard disk without installing anything on the machine.

This particular advantage of Server2Go allows you to create a standalone no-installation working dynamic web site or PHP/Perl/SQL application on a CD-ROM or USB drive.

Using a web browser, a user can run php programs as well as view html files on the CD-ROM, as soon as the CD is inserted the standalone web server launches and opens a browser with the Website on the CD-ROM.

Server2Go was build to replace WampOnCD which lacks some important features and isn't actively developed.

SpaceMonger is a not so well known utility for keeping track of files and folders on your hardisk graphically. Each file and folder is displayed in a colored box in the software main window whose size is a relative comparison to all the other files on your system. The program supports popup info-tips that can display file/folder information like the full filename, the icon, the date, size, and attributes of any file or folder. You can delete files from the right click menu and customize the number of files to be shown as well as the color scheme.

There are two versions of SpaceMonger - older version 1.4 is free and does not need any installation, the product is discontinued and a new shareware version 2.1 is available, the new version is more of a visual eye candy.

Fake news is being circulated around the internet of new Google Earth 2008 download being available on a website with the name earth-2008.org, in reality the site in question is displaying Google Pack download as a part of Google Adsense Referrals advertising network the owner simply make upto $2 per download when the misinformed visitor downloads the OLD Google Earth thinking it as a new 2008 version.

Google advertising network usually takes strong actions against such tactics and the publisher in question might get his account banned pretty soon.

Recently Torrent sites are getting spammed by malicious torrent uploads disguised as new movie releases, torrent users are reporting that they have downloaded various videos mostly claiming to be new movie releases or TV shows only to be confronted with a short video which advises them to download a new media player called 3wPlayer to view the rest of file. The few second clip show the Url to download this malware media player 3wPlayer.

The player installs a form of CIDHELP malware which is very hard to get rid of, The only solution to this problem is to make the user aware of this kind of tactic and reporting any such torrent to the torrent website for removal.
