The Race For "One OS For All Devices" - Ubuntu Vs Windows 10

With a phenomenal increase in mobile and tablet users, converged computing is definitely going to be the next big thing in the world of technology. To elaborate, "Phone–PC convergence" means a single app Eco-system and user-interface across mobile, tablet or Desktop computing devices. The technology industry has already prepped the end users for the shift. Ubuntu was without the doubt one of the first major OS name to afloat the idea and even start working on it, with options ranging from Ubuntu Edge, Ubuntu For Cars or the Nexphone concept the idea is now well conceptualized and waiting to became a reality sooner or later, recently Microsoft also joined the race with Windows 10 and started talking about the idea of "Universal Apps" across the Windows devices Eco-system. Microsoft has also taken the first step to make way into the Linux stronghold of "Internet of Things (IoT)" devices with it's "Windows For Devices" initiative and has already started offering free Windows 10 for Raspberry Pi 2.

In a recent presentation Mark Shuttleworth founder of Canonical’s Box (the company to market commercial support for Ubuntu) focused more on the convergence, specifying that currently Ubuntu’s phone application platform can already resize and fit applications to fit the different screen sizes, including smart phones to windows desktop screen sizes.

Here is a peep on how both Windows and Ubuntu are being remodeled around convergence and what are their USP's.

Solution for YU Yureka Blank Screen During Calls And After Wakeup From Lock Screen

Yu is the brand-name given to a new line of products by Micromax aimed to counter the competition from likes of Xiaomi (Mi Vs Yu!!), the first smartphone of the series Yu Yureka offered a great combination of hardware and software (CyanogenMod) at an very affordable price. The handset recently got an update to Google Android 5 Lolipop (CyanogenMod 12), everything worked ok but it seems it introduced a bug which would result in blank screen when waked-up from lock-screen or after a reboot and also during calls. Here is how you can fix both issues - the black screen during the call and the blank screen after reboot or wake-up.

Rooting Xiaomi Mi4 Stable ROM

I switched from an Apple iPhone to Xiaomi Mi4 since past 4 months and I must say it is an excellent smartphone. Apart from power-packed hardware the Google Android 4.4 based MIUI6 ROM on the software front has been a big reason the phone is a huge success and is often compared to the likes of Apple iPhone 6 despite being cheaper almost three times to it. The company offers two versions of their official MIUI ROM - the "Stable Version" which comes pre-installed with Google services like "Google Play Store" and the "Development Version" which gets frequent updates, does not have Google services pre-installed, is tuned towards Chinese app-ecosystem but has the added advantage of being pre-rooted.

While I was enjoying my experience with the developer version of the ROM, last update MIUI6 v 5.2.13 broke Google services and re-installing using the usual "Google Installer" from the MIUI Appstore did not worked. This is when I decided to switch to the Stable version of the ROM and had to manually root my phone as shared below unlike the development version which comes pre-rooted.
